October Favorites

Wednesday, October 30, 2019

October was probably the busiest month for me school wise, I had a big essay and article to write so I wasn't out doing much. Once that a got turned in I went to Oregon with Kevin to watch an Oregon Ducks football game, which I've made a blog post about before this one, and that was really fun. After everything this month was jammed pack with new beauty favorites!

S K I N C A R E:

  •  So I have been using Paulas Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant for about two months now, I was put on by my fav estheticians Lily and Nai, and I was at first nervous because of the BHA which is acid made to exfoliate any dead skin, but it also has ingredients that evens out your skin tone. I was afraid it would be too drying, especially during these upcoming dry, cold, then hot months, but I was pleasantly surprised. I only use it at night because I want to clean my face real good before bed and take the day off. Nordstrom has the best deal for this product (2 for one basically) but at the moment they are sold out. Paulas Choice's website has some good deals as well every now and again, I would def try to wait on Black Friday though, as most brands do have really good sales, so save up!!

  •  my new skincare fav is also a little bit of a shoutout to the brand, First Aid Beauty. I won a give away with them so this is kinda sponsored and kind a not, because I love every single thing they sent me. I was not paid to promote this but I think they sent me the best things ever! I previously mentioned their facial cleanser which is the bees knees. I love it so much and I just finished one bottle, so safe to say the cleanser lasts a good amount of time.
    • Probably my absolute favorite product has to be their Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration. This is my new holy grail, no joke. I love this moisturizer, its super hydrating something I was missing from a different cream I was using. There's also SO MUCH product in this, a HUGE bonus. I apply this at night and sometimes in the day time whenever I know my skin needs more moisture.
    • I also really liked their Facial Radiance Pads. Essentially they do the same thing as the Paulas Choice exfoliator but, it's not as strong in my opinion. I really like to use it in the day time since it's gentle and not over drying. This was also recommended by Lily!
    • So I also received their Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer, it's alright. I  like to use it for my no make up days or when I want to add extra moisture on my face. I don't reach for it much, but it's nice to have.

  • A quick affordable brand highlight is Versed! I've seen their product at target next to bliss and was always intrigued to try them out. My first adventure was with their Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm. I like blame to pre-cleanse the face before going in with my FAB cleanser. It smelled like Vicks vapor rub at first and I was like hmmm... but upon using it I was pleasantly satisfied! I loved how a little goes a long way and also left my skin so soft, which is a huge plus. It's especially nice so gettin stubborn mascara!
  • I also tried their Hydration Station- Hydration Booster with HA, it's weightless and watery and dare I say, wayyyy better than the Fourth ray Beauty one I tried. It didn't leave my skin feeling sticky and can be used alone or mixed in with moisturizers, serums, or foundation. I definitely have seen a difference in my skin and I don't feel as dry as I normally do!

  • I also tried Burts Bees Micellar Cleansing Towelettes, because I had run out of my cleansing oil and needed something quick. These took off my makeup and didn't dry out my skin. If you're looking for something does a quick job, this is for you!

  • okay...I didn't realize all the skin care stuff I had to share, but, the LAST thing I want to talk about is sunscreen. I tried Supergoop! Unseen sunscreen SPF 40 and I love it. No stickiness, applies very smoothly and almost like a primer! Remember SPF is very important!!

M A K E U P:
  • I didn't use much new makeup, BUT, these are my top favs. I recently purchased this palette from colourpop, Give it to Me Straight and absolutely love it! The colors are really nice and warm and purply. It's a really nice alternative to the autumnal colors we're used to and can be transitioned to winter makeup looks.

  • I've also been LOVING colourpop's new Disney Midnight Masquerade line and JUST HAD TO GET FINALLY, Princess Aurora's highlighter and Princess Tiana's blush. I love them both so much, the blush had a lot of shimmer in it but it's not an over kill. The highlighter is a light pink which really looks nice on my complexion and they both apply easily will with a brush. I get lots of compliments on them and I love that they come with a mirror!

  • I also tried Kosas's Tinted Face Oil! Yes, you read that right, tinted FACE-OIL. I was like this is interesting lemme just.... and I was able to match the color to my skin fairly easily. I love how this applied and it's not drying at all! I apply it by spreading on my face and then either singly finger or a bluffing brush for an even finish. I finish it off with my beauty blender so there aren't any streaks.
