FAVORIS DE FEVRIER

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

I thought January went by fast, this month was even faster. Spring is just around the corner as well, which is something I'm super excited about because I take each season as a rebirth for myself! I've hit some financial difficulties but I'm still trucking along! I've also had some organizational issues lately, as I'm writing this it's the first time I feel like everything is starting to go together better which is good! I've become full time at work now which is great but I'm also full time in school; balancing out my time in order to get what I need done hit me harder than I thought but I'm getting there. It also explains why I haven't created a lot of content for the blog BUT I still have my favorites I'd love to share with you all!

S K I N C A R E:
This winter has damaged my skin a lot. It was very dry for a while and the fluctuating weather is messing it up! The Mario Badescu lotion is still okay but I definitely need to get something even more moisturizing because it looks like it's going to be a cold and wet start off spring as well! While the moisturizer left me well off throughout the day I noticed some parts of my skin becoming dry.
  • Luckily when this happened I visited Trader Joes to get Joe's dog food and in the middle of a Valentines Day themed setup I saw an oldie but a goodie, their Rose Facial Oil. I remember when it first came out and since I try to penny pinch when I can I picked it up and loved it immediately! It was only six dollars, um H E L L O. It leaves my skin wonderful moisturized and honestly I can see my skin glow within. It's definitely a must try and you have to be quick because they told me it was only for a limited release. (THEY NEED TO MAKE IT PERMANENT THOUGH.) I picked up 7 of them so I'll be stocked for a long time.

  • My next skincare fav is actually something I'm quite excited about! So one of my New Years resolutions was to create less waste and do things that would be better for the environment. This product helps me with just that! The Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter from The Body Shop is a cleansing butter that removes your makeup without having to wipe your face with a wipe. So not only is it better for your skin but you don't have to waste wipes in the trash either! When I'm ready to rinse I use a reusable bamboo cotton pad to remove the makeup and rinse with water. It has a really nice and pleasant smell as well! The Body Shop also has really good online deal weekly and in store they have a buy two get one free deal!

H A I R:
I've got some new hair news to share with y'all! I actually need to get a haircut soon because my ends are dry and starting to split. So to fix that I need to get a haircut, but in the meantime I needed something for my...d a n d r u f f.
  • The Ginger Shampoo from The Body Shop has changed the scalp game. I used this perhaps twice and was impressed. Perhaps a week later I noticed that my head wasn't itchy at all, like I haven't scratched at all. So I scratched my head just to see the flakiness or any dandruff that was on my scalp (ya girl had it bad), and N O T H I N G. This has done wonders to my scalp and I don't think I'm ever going back. It's cruelty free as well! DUH!

M A K E U P:
I've been pretty good with staying loyal with my makeup favs, HOWEVER, I said screw it and purchased something I've wanted to try. NOTE: this is a treat yo self purchase and it didn't even bust the bank. I've been wanting to try these babies out since they came out but never felt the need to!
  • I have pretty nice full brows, not greatly defined but still there. We've all heard about   Glossier's Boy Brow and I'll admit it was cute but not almost $20 worth. So I used a clear gel mascara to hold my brows in place until Colourpop's Brow Boss Gel came out! I use the color Dark Brown instead of Black that way it wouldn't looks harsh on me. The pigment on these are so much better than the Glossier one and holds my eyebrows hair very well! For $6??!! Yeah sorry glossier you was cute. I use this daily but I mostly use it by itself when I barely wear makeup so my eyebrows look well groomed!
  • So I still love my wet n wild eyebrow pencil but sometimes I'd rather have a more precise brow pencil. I didn't want to spend $20 on the ABH one so I tried the Colourpop's Precision Brow Pencil and I was seriously impressed. I barely had the product touch my skin and it had incredible pigment. The brush at the end is really nice too and matches the ABH one as well. This baby runs for $5, talk about a deal, seriously never underestimate Colourpop, they are truly amazing! I use the color Cool Cocoa which is equivalent to a medium brown but def more on the darker side. It's my new fav pencil and I only use it on days that I do a full face of makeup which is not often!
JUST LOOK AT MY BROWS
  • Mascara is a girls best friend, can make your eyes go from tired to doe-eyed angel baby. I want a mascara to create false lashes on me, I find mascaras that take me half way there, like the cover girl one. It gave me length and some volume but I wanted more volume. I usually use the MILK Makeup KUSH mascara but again 20$?!?! Colourpop announced their mascara launch and I was OVER THE MOON! BFF Mascara in Black on Black is just like the MILK one but it's only $8!!!! Are you kidding me?!?! It gave me create volume and it doesn't flake, HOWEVER it runs a little. I don't apply it on my bottom lashes since making that discovery but regardless it's a great mascara!

  • One of my news years resolution was to become more involved with the community of Long Beach since moving here. Long Beach itself is a place that feels homey and comfortable for me and I never saw myself falling in love with the place to be honest. But I did, and the sense of community you get here is really nice. One of the greatest discoveries I made through social media is Gusto Bread.
  • I first heard about this place through facebook it was an article about a local Long Beach bakery who make everything in the house, like literally their shop is their house. This sparked my interest greatly they mainly make artisanal naturally leavened breads with local and organic ingredients but also make some pastries! I've tried the biscuits and baguettes but my go to each week is their California Loaf. I like to make sandwiches or have it with soup, it kinda makes me live out my provincial fantasy. The sell at a farmers market that is close by and now I get my fresh veggies and fruit from there as well! After my first try I quickly realized that I needed to order ahead of time so I can just pick it up when I get there. They have an order option for the Wednesdays farmers market and on Sunday's when they open their doors to customers. Seriously if you're a Long Beach local or if you're just visiting check it out!!

That's all I have for my February Favorites, thanks for reading and if you ever purchase something and you liked it because of me make sure to use the hashtag #ALLISONMADEMEDOIT I'd love to see and meet people that liked what I shared so much that they went out and bought it themselves. Thanks for reading! À bientôt!
