January Favorites

Wednesday, January 30, 2019

This month went by SUPER fast, but January was still full of exciting things! I started my spring semester in Long Beach and I'm so excited for my classes, mostly my literary journalism class. I'm a sucky writer but I'm hoping this will improve my writing! ANYWHO, I'm going to share with you peeps my January favorites!

First things first: S K I N C A R E:

I've decided to go back to the basics! In an effort to save money and simply my routine I did some digging up on simple skincare. I still use my Yes to Cucumbers Gentle Milk Cleanser, it's the perfect dupe to glossier's cleanser and way cheaper! HOWEVER, when I tried to repurchase it I couldn't find it anywhere and even ULTA says the product is not available! So I'm going to be on the look out for a new one.

  • My first new skincare goodie is from once again, Trader Joes. It's their 100% pure Jojoba oil. It runs about $11 and I love applying this before bed after cleansing my face. I also switched to this oil because I needed something that can give me good moisture without clogging my pores. I don't over due it either about a quarter size amount, just enough to cover my face and neck! N E V E R forget your neck!! You can find this at any local Trader Joes!
  • The second skincare goodie I picked up was at Nordstrom. It's the Mario Badescu Collagen Moisturizer! When I first applied this on my hand, I immediately had to purchase it. It left my hand super nice and smooth and not sticky at all! It gives you lightweight anti-aging moisture with SPF 15! Having SPF in your skincare is very important and this is one quick and easy way to have it incorporated in it. I apply my daytime serum from Cattail Apothecary allow that to dry along with my eye creme from Herbal Moon Apothecary. Then I apply the moisturizer. I contains the same amount go product that the Glosseries intense riche moisturizer has for 10$ less. The moisturizer has a collagen-rich formula to protect the skin from moisture loss, crucial for the winter dry times.

Skincare related but I needed to share this with y'all! I ran out of my original Poison Apple organic lip balm from Herbal Moon Apothecary. That baby lasted me since SEPTEMBER. This lip balm provides perfect moisture to my lips. When I was stocking up again Herbal Moon was sold out of the Poison apple lip balm so I picked up their Lavender Mint lip balm. You guys know I'm a sucker for anything that is rose or lavender. So this was a nice replacement for the poison apple one.

H A I R:

  • I last cut my hair in July. That is 6 months full of styling and what not. I've already raved about Verb Products and I still want to try mint more of their products, but one at a time. Mama ain't got that kind of bank yet! Using their Ghost OilHydrating Conditioner, and their Hydrating Mask has definitely helped my hair grow nicely and without any damage. However, I still would like to add more protection and using their Ghost Prep has done just that. I apply a quarter size amount along with one pump of the Ghost Oil and it gives me heat protection and eases the frizzzzz.
  • My other favorite hair item is my new Maxwell scarf from Nordstrom! It's absolutely darling and it the spots remind me of the spots on a deer. Super cute! I like to wrap it around my pony tail, as a headband, and even around my head like a babushka.

M A K E U P:

So I've been trying to not spend so much money this year on things I don't need but sometimes it's okay to treat yourself am I right?? SHH don't tell on me! I've only have three things really that I've been obsessed with lately
  • I've been sooo excited to try this beauty product. It's the Flower Beauty Blush Bomb Color Drops! I was intrigued when I first saw these pop up on my instagram feed because they looked like Glossier's cloud paint blushes. I took an immediate liking in the color "Bitten" because it reminded me so much of Glossier's Storm. I was running low and I did NOT want to spend almost $20 on a blush so I decided to try these out! They're only $10!!! A steal. I tried Bitten first and it applied so beautifully! I barely needed a squeeze and gave my a perfect rosy glow. So I immediately wanted to try the colors Melon and Pinched. Pinched is a little to close to my skin tone but I want to work with it more because it seems brightening. MUST HAVE NOW

  • My next goodie is something I'm excited about! Covergirl recently became cruelty-free! So I went ahead snagged a COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Mascara! I tried this mascara a long time ago, like middle school y'all. I decided to try it again since they became cruelty free and man oh man OLDIE BUT A GOODIE! Holds the curl perfectly, separates my lashes, good base for false lashes, and volumizes as well!
  • One of my favorite eyeshadows to use for everyday is Herbal Moon Apothecary's mineral Eyeshadow in ALCHEMY! It's a darling neutral loose pigment with some gold shimmer. You can apply dry or wet! If I'm going for a simple eye look I just use my fingers and swipe it across my lid and boom done. If I want something more dramatic then I'll pack some one with flat eye shadow brush for maximum pigment.

  • So I've talked about my lip balm but my favorite lip color at the moment is from Morphe Liquid Lipstick in Peanut! I walked in ULTA to get ONE THING...we've been there... and something called me to this color. I tried it on and I immediately fell in love with the color! It was the perfect red, pink, brown color! It literally lasts all day I rarely reapply! Definitely a holy grail item!

  • Last but not least lovely Ashlyn sent me some lashes from her new Sadgirl Collection  and I was absolutely over the moon! Her lashes are to-die-for but lucky for me and the furry babies they're cruelty free! I loved the Lana lashes and Marilyn lashes and these are beautiful!!! I absolutely in love with the Ashlyn Lash it's the perfect lash for beginners that want an extra oopmf.  The Cherry lash gave me big eyes and a fun look especially for a night out! Angelcake reminds me so much of Marina and the Diamonds Primadonna Girl era, which I want to recreate with this lash! Speaking of Primadonna Girl you remember that heart shaped mole Marina would rock, Ashlyn pulled something out of my dreams and created Aesthetic Angel Tears, which comes with star/heart beauty marks, diamond tear drops ,and pearl tear drops. My young and beautiful fantasies have come true!! The pear tear drops remind me of some renaissance paintings that I adore. He collection is absolutely wonderful!

That's all I have for my January Favorites, I'm hoping to do more of these too this year! Thanks for reading and if you ever purchase something and you liked it because of me make sure to use the hashtag #ALLISONMADEMEDOIT I'd love to see and meet people that liked what I shared so much that they went out and bought it themselves. Thanks for reading! À bientôt!
