Oregon Trip

Friday, August 17, 2018

Kevin and I had our vacation planned since February to go to Yosemite, but unfortunately, the fires caused us to cancel it, so we last minute decided to take a road trip up to Oregon! This was my first time ever up north and it was so special and great! So I'm going to show you where we went and hopefully, you guys get some ideas too!

SUNDAY

So the drive up to Eugene is about 13 hours. It can be done in one day but it just depends on what you wanna do. We decided to drive up to Dunsmuir which was an 8-hour drive instead. We left around 7:30 and got there at around 4/5. We stayed at the cutest little-renovated bed and breakfast form the 80s-90s. It was a little house with parking on the premises and you basically share the house with other people but you have your privacy. We ate at Penny's Diner for dinner and it was something straight out of twin peaks it was funny and strange all at once.

MONDAY

The next day we left to drive to Eugene perhaps around 8 or 9 I can't recall but it was a 5-hour drive! The minute we crossed the border it was so green and I've never seen that many trees in a state. You'd still have to drive at least 6 hours to see an actual forest in California. ANYWHO, We stayed at this Airbnb called Serendipity, and it was PERFECT!!! It was like basically having your own place! When we arrived we visited Kevin's old school at the University of Oregon which was pretty sweet! It was a gorgeous campus.

For lunch we had tacos from this really cool place called Tacovore, for not being in LA it was a pretty dank ass taco.

For dinner, we had Bartolottis Pizza AND IT WAS HUGE we literally had left overs for the whole week!
TUESDAY

This day was going to be one HELL OF A RIDE. I googled things to do in Eugene and the one thing that stuck out to me was the Wildlife Safari just about an hour south of Eugene. This place was awesome with so many animals freely roaming around. We used a Groupon for admissions and the cheetah encounter. You drive about 10mph around the safari going through different areas of the globe; America, Asia, and Africa. I definitely would recommend going at the opening time so you can take your time during the safari.

I took a lot of videos on my Instagram and photos on my disposable camera. But we were super excited for the cheetah encounter we had!
THIS IS MAKUMBA, when she was born her mom rejected her and her brother because she only had a two cub liter, when cheetahs usually have about 6-8. She's now an ambassador for the Wildlife Safari. She was a sweetie and purred when we were next to her she's still considered wild. Unfortunately, she can't be put back into the wild due to not having the survival skills that her mom was supposed to teach her. But she loved her trainer so much and was so playful.

So afterward we took a nap because we got up super early. Next Kevin took me to one of his favorite spots, which was also a hike called Spencers Butte. It was so nice and quiet and not that far! It was a bit smoggy but just being up really high and seeing all of Eugene was pretty awesome!

For dinner we had an AMAZING MEAL Beppe & Gianni's, it was so good like dam I want to have them for dinner every day. I got the special which was homemade ravioli with homemade sauce and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Kevin got some rigatoni with carbonara sauce I believe. We also had the red wine that was really good!

WEDNESDAY

We decided to go to Portland for the day and we didn't have much of a plan but I knew I wanted to see the International Rose Test GardensPittock MansionSmith Teamaker, and Multnomah Falls.
First, we went to the Rose Gardens which were absolutely beautiful! It was also free and all you had to pay was for parking! So many roses that smelled divine!

Up next we went to Pittock Mansion which was a short drive. It was a beautiful mansion that overlooked Portland and tells the story of how Portland came to be a modern industrialized city. The house was beautiful and someone was playing the piano in the hall! Everything was victorian era-ish and I LIVE FOR THOSE.

We then drove towards Multnomah Falls and IT WAS BREATHTAKING. I've always heard of the falls but never did I think I would see it in person!! It was one of the highlights of this trip!!

We had lunch at the Lodge which was super cool because we could see the falls right in front of us!!

We then decided to have some desert...TEA! I've heard of Smith Teamaker from Buzzfeed because they were known for their tea-flights, and you know me I LOVE TEA so we did that and they had an excellent Chai Tea as well!

We ended each night with leftovers and watching Indiana Jones each night.
This trip was so special and amazing and I wish to come back very soon! I took many of my photos on my disposable camera so I'll upload those when I can! Thursday we drove down to San Mateo to stay at his brother's place and Friday we drive down to LA!

There's no one else I'd rather be with than Kevin, my best friend and boyfriend, who did all the driving AMAZINGLY.
